There is a setting that specifies what type of console the system has. On V5R3 one can use STRSST option #8. I think there is, also, a Dedicated Services Tools (DST) option. This, according to the V5R4 upgrade manual, anyway, is what determines what console the system will look for during a D IPL.

Sounds like your system is still set for Ops Console.

Hi Everyone

I am having a frustrating time trying to D type IPL a 9406 820 with a V5R3 I_BASE_01 CD.

It does the usual hang on C6004031 and then throws up the SRC A6005008 where it cannot find a console.

The machine is using a 2746 TwinAx card and I have so far tried putting it into C03 and C04 but still to no avail. I have also swapped out the TwinAx card with another one from another machine, I have swapped the TwinAx cable and also the the 8 Port TwinAx block (N.B. The port I am using is Port 0)

The machine was originally purchased as an Ops Console box but we dont use it here as we prefer TwinAx.

I have tried the 65+21 service functions, but when I try them I cannot get the 65 unless I do 25+26 first and then 65 becomes available.

Getting really frustrated, as I am sure there is something small I have missed!

Any help as always is greatly appreciated,

Martin.
