I missed the original post, but that would only be true if the
select/omit was static. Dynamic select/omit is fine for SQE. 

Also, if there are static select/omit logicals and you still want to use
SQE you can add an entry in your QAQQINI table to ignore derived indexes
and then SQE can be used (but it will act as if the select/omit indexes
don't exist). See
