Also there was a thread on this list within the last few months.  The 
security paranoid might want to consider the technique posted.  Apparently 
if you use the technique specified at
"Initialize Disk Drives So That All Data Is Erased Off of a System"

Be sure to read the section at the bottom
"Does the iSeries Initialize Its Disk Units to the DoD 5220.22-M 
Standard?" and click the link thereof.

Anyway, in the archives, it was suggested that you might want to follow 
the steps to initialize a system for sale.  Then run the program posted to 
fill the disk with data, etc. Then initialize the system again.
For the truly paranoid, you may wish to then physically destroy the 
drives.
