I want to force a message queue to BREAK mode using a CL, then send it a message. Being a tidy person I would like to return it to it's prior status. How do I retrieve the delivery status of a message queue ( not mine, most likely QSYSOPR's ) before I change it?

Richard:

Just to clarify, you _do_ realize that successfully running CHGMSGQ in a job allocates that message queue to that job, right? If another job has QSYSOPR already allocated, you can't run your program in a different job and have it change the delivery mode.

Just wanted to be sure what's being asked to keep the archives clear about replies. My apologies if this seems too obvious to be asking.
