We are running V5R3M0.
Right now we are talking with the application developer, that will
change the archiving options to smaller file and one lib per month.

The link that Bryan posted is exactly what we were looking at. We had this
problem at V5R2 and the number went up for V5R3. It seems that the numbers
did NOT go up from R3 to R4 so this wont help you.
