Don't know if letting it stay so far behind is one reason that the
maintenance got expired. A little activity on that account may have
triggered a heads up.

Hell, my brand new 520 got a drive replaced last year and it went off
maintenance a couple of months later. So I don't buy the activity deal.
Basically as far as I can see, IBM doesn't tell you you're off maintenance
and then wants to charge you an arm and a leg to get back on.

Add to it that there's a different date for SWMA, for my HWMA, and plus they
charge me monthly for my lease; they make it as difficult as possible to
keep things straight.

But we'll see how this saga plays out.
