I agree. Via BRMS console, we do a restricted state backup 5 days a week at
1am. Saves *IBM, *ALLUSR, *ALLDLO, *ALLSPLF, SAVCFG, SAVSECDTA, *LINK, and
QMPGLIB. Because we can. On Tuesday and Friday it also does SAVSYS. At
1:30pm we do a SAVCHGOBJ of *ALLUSR (takes 5 minutes) and at 5:15 pm we do
another SAVCHGOBJ of *ALLUSR along with *ALLSPLF. Except for the *ALLSPLF,
this predates V5R4. (And I know BRMS could do spool files before V5R4, we
just didn't do it.)

We started the 1:30pm SAVCHGOBJ after our previous iSeries (a 270) threw a
power supply so hard midafternoon that it required a complete reload. The
backup was from 1am. The CEO asked if there was a way to not have to
reenter half a day's transactions. The 1:30pm SAVCHGOBJ was the result.

Users get a warning 3 minutes prior to that 1:30pm backup. They learned PDQ
to return to a menu, or they get signed off.
