We still use the DLYJOB method you mentioned, but I am told the backup
can now be submitted to batch with a new parameter as of a certain
(V5R3?) version.

I tried quickly once or twice but haven't really investigated how to do
it properly.

Unless you have a self-contained tape jukebox, though, don't you still
have to load a tape before the backup?  That's one of the reasons I
haven't pursued this method.
