On the SNDDST command, is it possible to attach a file from the IFS
(just put there with a CPYTOIMPF command)?

Don, not to change the subject, but ...

I was faced with a similar problem several times over the last year.
Rather than work with "downloads", I decided on other approaches and I
think they really are better.

The first time the user was a 5250 user so I built a program that did an
automatic email of a .csv. The user keys in some criteria and two
minutes later, the .csv is in their email. He commented the other day
how much he loves that program and asked us to add it to several more.
If he wasn't a 5250 user, we could have easily added it to Robot and
have it run on event or time.

The .csv portion took an hour or two without knowing how to do it. I had
no prior experience writing my own .csv. The trick is to use the
"working with the IFS in RPG IV" examples from www.scottklement.com. The
example program CH6CSV had everything I needed and after moving the
binding directory and service program to our tool library, it was a
piece of cake. The auto send of the email I had some experience with and
took only 30-40 minutes to code and test using copied code.

The second time, I tried a different approach based on excel. I'm not
quite as big a fan on this one, but it works and I think it relies only
on the ODBC driver for getting the data off the system i. It is
described here http://www.itjungle.com/fhg/fhg060607-story02.html.

I have created a transfer request - a .dtf and saved it. This was done
on a Microsoft server. I then found out that I must have i5 access for
windows installed on the users PC in order for that user to be able to
run the .dtf I saved into their directory on the Windows server. So,
after I installed
i5 Access for Windows on the users PC, and executed the saved .dtf,
which is supposed to replace a .xls file each time run, that user get a
"no access"
error on the .xls file?
