Al Mac brings up some good points on being able to complete the tasks the
high profile person used to do. One big security thing is to enforce
vacations. And don't do the obvious of forcing them to schedule their
vacation so they are never gone during period end. Having them gone
during period end on occasion is a good thing. This will let you know
what processes are documented sufficiently and which are not. Watch also
that employee who is never gone the day that PR checks are printed. One
employee got pretty clever with UPDDTA and the direct deposit file.
I am concerned that this one employee is so critical to the department.
I've suggested disabling the profile when they are on vacation. The idea
is met with horror. Not only do I want to ensure that the job is covered,
but I'd like the poor person to get a real break when on vacation instead
of remotely connecting all the time.
