IMO, it is a good fit for all receivers including the security journal.

Under the covers, MTNJRN just does a CHGJRN and then has some routines to
determine how old a receiver is and will delete based on number of days.

For example, I prefer seeing thirty days of receivers rather than one
receiver with 30 days of activity. So, I set our scheduler to run the mtnjrn
command every day to change receivers and delete receivers after 32 days.
This also gets the receivers saved to tape for at least an additional 4
weeks based on our tape rotation schedule.

Would there be any reason that this MTNJRN command should not be used on the
security journal?

There is an option in the cleanup functions to take care of those. GO
CLEANUP option 1. Read the help for which journals. If you have taatools,
there is MTNJRN that will take care of them as well as any user journals.

Is it safe to delete journal receivers which have been detached for several
years in Qusrsys? I have a sample of some of them belowQSXJRN0022
