Jim,
My knowledge of SQL server can be compared to a baby just crowning.
However there are some things in server land that you just need to go
through the server and not to try to access directly. For example IBM
strongly discourages mapping a drive to your Domino server and accessing
files locally versus accessing them through the server. I am sure that
you will blow the minds of SQL server if you do so also. For example, on
the i5 we have QSYS2/SYSCOLUMNS and SYSTABLES. Guess what? SQL Server
has those same files.
I think you would be better served by calling JDBC from RPGLE to access
your SQL Server data. There was an example at
http://www.iseries400experts.com about a year or so ago from Craig Pelkie
(I believe). We contracted Joe Pluta to write something to do this for
us.
