Re: SAV status for Spool Files

  The spool file status of SAV means _saved_ [past tense]; the spool 
file is not *created* with that status.  If that is already understood, 
the following is likely not of any help, as it attempts only to clarify 
SAV status as it relates to SAVE(*YES).
  The SAVE(*YES) is an attribute of the printer file, via CRTPRTF or 
CHGPRTF, which means SAVE(*YES) is also available via OVRPRTF.  The 
specification SAVE(*YES) indicates that, for the spooled output being 
generated, *after* the spooled file has changed to WTR status due to the 
spool file having entered the writer <WTR status, and maybe only after 
also having been written for the specified number of pages?>, the spool 
file status changes to SAV and the number of copies is reset to 1; 
awaiting possible release to be written again, or deletion, or move to 
another queue.
