I hate to burst any bubbles, but the 515 and 525 Do Not need V5R4M5 as teh chart lists. They need V5R4M0 with the correct RS levels.

IBM updated this website (at my request) to include:
- 515
- 525
- footnotes to which machines required a M5 level of the OS
and they also added the new P6 hardware.

Interesting facts:

Which release heralded the arrival of the most hardware?
- V4R1: 9 models
- V5R3 and M5: 5 models
- V5R2: 4 models
- a few ties for 3 models
- "Next Release" (V6R1) so far, no models.

Which release killed off the most models?
- V5R3: 10 models
- V5R2: 7 models
- "Next Release" (V6R1): 1 model
- V4R1: not a one. Strange, when it leads the list in new hardware.

Granted, it's all RISC based and we all know that V3R6 killed off CISC boxes.
