See you tonight.

Views and indexes are separate. For example if I create a table that
contains: MYKEY, MYCHARCOL1, MYCHARCOL2, MYCHARCOL3. And I create a view
(TheView) that contains only MYKEY and MYCHARCOL3. And I create an index
based on MYCHARCOL3 then if I
select *
from TheView
order by MYCHARCOL3

then it should only return MYKEY and MYCHARCOL3, and it should
automatically select the index to speed the sort based on decisions made
under the cover. Ok?

In general though you can't combine a view and an index like a logical
file with selection and sorting criteria. Which you normally shouldn't
care unless you are using RLA (record level access) via traditional F
specs in RPG.
