Years ago I learned that some subcommand requests in an FTP client
may dislike directory specifications. To avoid ever having to know when
or why any particular subcommand was directory averse, the easiest way
for me to never experience those issues [and thus never have to memorize
it] was to always use LCD and CD to set current directory at the source
and target *before* issuing unqualified subcommand requests. So for
example:
lcd /home/tspgmr10
cd /home/tspgmr10
prompt
mput *
Note that the mput request specifies only a from-file generic;
specifying it twice [with the assumption that the second is a to-file
specification] will, IIRC, be interpreted as two fromfile requests; i.e.
the request would send all files twice.
