However it always strikes me as odd that GUI tools are probably developed
by other GUI tools and if they are so darn productive to use then why does
the product produced by same cost so much?
There is A LOT that these tools do to take away your pain of software
development, but there is even more that they add to make things even worse
than you were with the green screen applications. I predict that someday,
in the next couple years, there will be a turn to realize we don't have it
so bad in the RPG server-side world and appropriate technologies will pop up
to meet all our needs. Technologies are already coming along like Profound
Logics RPGsp web stuff that is 100% RPG with wizards and code generators to
get you "there" quickly. Sure it takes longer to develop stuff out of the
gates with traditional languages, but the long term is much smoother sailing
than these other technologies being introduced.
