Depends what level of backup you're looking for, I guess... and just
because you've stopped communications doesn't necessarily mean your data is
quiesced...
There is a lot of specific knowledge needed to know what 'pieces' of your
server need queisced to backup a specific application(s) in your
environment. Unless they looked at those requirements, they made that
statement pretty well off the cuff!

Several years ago IBM advised me not to end the TCP servers and the host
servers but rather to end the TCP/IP interface(s). In addition I was
advised not to end QSYSWRK. Now I am ready to ask why ... does anyone know
why this might be true or have better advice?
