No example, sorry ... but the logic isn't hard ... open both
connections, execute a query on one database creating a resultset,
create a prepared SQL statement on the other connection, spin through
the result set extracting the data, set the data in your prepared
statement, and execute the prepared statement to write to the other
database.  There's probably better ways to do it, but that's the first
one that came to mind.

As to which platform ... doesn't really mater.  Java is java is java.
If it's got to run on an ongoing basis, you could probably set it up as
a scheduled job on the System i.
