Hans! Haven't heard from you in awhile.
I have been using OpenOffice extensively over the past 9 months and it is a
great tool 95% of the time. There are some things that are "buggy" that
don't make a huge difference, but are annoying none-the-less (i.e. I can
only get Tools->Word Count to work when I initially open the document. If I
try to do it after I type another 100 words it doesn't give me any sort of
update).
Also, when working with Power Point and Word documents it seems the OO
doesn't communicate the same x and y coordinates for some things (i.e. I
might have an image centered on the page in Word, and when I edit it in OO
it is slightly off to the right).
But for the price (free) you can't beat it. Even with it's short comings I
will continue to use it. Now I wish open source would come up with
something equivalent to Outlook (i.e. email, calendar, notes, to-dos, etc)

John: Ditch MS Word, and start using OpenOffice. Unlike MS Word, OO doesn't
think it knows better than you, and leaves the lower case i alone. (If you
absolutely have to save the file in MS DOC format, OO handles that just
fine.)
Cheers! Hans
