1 - You're right. RPGLE does default to an OS error if you do not wrap
the divide by zero in a MONITOR group.
2 - If you're going to lobby for others to submit their DCR's also then it
helps to post the DCR website:

3 - Checked out compiler options to see if there was a special option to
get COBOL to behave. Which is how IBM will probably have to fix this
issue if they accept your DCR. And the default will be not the way you
want it, but the current behavior so that everyone else's programs don't
change.
Noticed this weird help in the compiler options. Oh well, just prompt
CRTCBLMOD and look at the help on OPTIONS(*CRTF ).
4 - You might want to post this to the COBOL list.
