I didn't know that. I knew AIX apps could run under i5/OS through
PASE, but I didn't know that native i5/OS apps could run under AIX. Or
am I missing something?

Can RPG apps run under AIX?

It may only be one vendor as you point out, but i5/OS applications can run on both System i and System p. The application is really dependent on the OS environment (i5/OS in this case) and not the hardware platform (and various OS environments that might be available on the System i).

i5/OS and OS/400 don't. They run on one and only one vendor's
hardware. So there's a link between H/W and S/W that may not be in
effect for other O/S'es.

If you were in the market for software what would you like
to see on a vendors web site when they are referencing the
hardware their software runs on.

Would it read:

.software for the AS/400, System i, iSeries, i5

Most software vendors' code doesn't run on hardware, it runs on a
particular operating system. So, I think it would be most accurate to
state that you provide software for i5/OS and OS/400. That said, you
probably still want to mention AS/400 and/or System i on your site, as
many people search on the hardware name out of habit.
