John, I didn't do an exhaustive test, especially of the permissions, but as
far as I can tell the cp -r worked fine.

Note that this is an additive copy; if the folders exist, they are used, if
not, they are created.  If the files exist they are overwritten.  If the
folders exist with additional files, the additional files are left in place.

Joe
