I did find information that MySQL has an idle
connection setting within its database settings, but does the i5?

Lots of things can kill a job server-side (endjob, endsbs, error >
sevlvl, ipl, etc.) but you'd probably know about them happening. :) To
i5/OS a "database connection" is just another batch job and there is
nothing in i5/OS that will simply kill a batch job just because it's
"inactive".
