The "real" benefit is that a production job is tracked so that tight
schedules can be adhered to.  If I let 30 minutes pass before noticing a
problem, that is 30 minutes longer that the print production team needs to
be paid, and, believe me, I will hear about it.  Really, though, what does
0.1% mean in terms of how much slower production jobs will run?  Is it even
meaningful?  For a five hour job, might it add 2 minutes?

Of course, your "big brother" is probably wasting more resources watching
