And they'll fix the page just in time for the move to Power 7.

Brad,

There is one ~small~ event that occurred this year. The i5 name, in
reference to hardware, disappeared. IBM now sells System i servers and
i5/OS. Go here to see the newest servers:
http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/i/hardware/index.html

And, it seems to be time for us to drop the hardware/OS name exchange - we
have been told that i5/OS will soon be running on "other platforms". Of
course, this was in reference to blades, but it would seem obvious that a
blade will not be called a System i or an i5.

Although, what seems hilarious, is that IBM has this on their System i home
page: "IBM System i Midrange servers including iSeries and AS/400"
They finally got the message - right when they are about to move i5/OS to
other hardware!

Trevor,

I didn't receive that email, so I'm not sure what courses it was
promoting.
But keep in mind a lot of them were written a while ago, and while they
may
mention AS/400 or iSeries instead of i5, they do still apply. :)

I deal with hundreds of customers a week. It's amazing how when I say
"i5"
(I've been forcing myself to do that now.. lol!) how many of them say
"huh?"
I say AS/400 and they say "oh... that's right... they changed the name
again.. it will always be AS/400 to me."

I agree that we should be watching what we call "our machine", but to some
of us it will always be AS/400, or even iSeries. But you're right that we
need to watch what we call it, especially when dealing with newbies in the
field.

Now, as Drowning Pool would put it, "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor"... :)
This should be an intesting thread to pass the new year's eve day.
