We looked at both WOW and m-power by mrc productivity, and ended up with
m-power. It uses data from the iseries, and creates java programs that
display the data in a query format (or you can do data entry). Their
product is easy to use (and fun) and their support has been great.
They did an installation at Boise Cascade that IT jungle wrote about ...

I'm not sure about the VB part. You'd probably have to talk to the vendor
directly about that. If you do, you should ask for Sal and he can tell you
what you need to know.
