As I recall, some years ago, a major vendor of guitar (and perhaps other
instrument) strings got into a major intellectual property rights
argument with Microsloth. The boss decided to unilaterally eliminate all
Microsloth products from the company, and convert everything --
practically overnight -- to Linux, OpenOffice, and other open-source
products. They had a few glitches at the beginning, but once they got on
top of the learning curve, everything ended up working better with open
source than it ever had with Microsloth.
