We are setting up our first use of an encrypted database field and can see this expanding once we get the process worked out. We are looking for ideas on the best place to store the password(s) needed to encrypt/decrypt the fields. We have one LDAP communication process where we stored the password in a dataarea since it was needed by multiple applications. We are not sure a dataarea is best for each of the passwords we might have in the future. Has anyone found the perfect solution for where to store passwords that you may need to know forever?
