That comparison of GM and IBM branding hierarchy is the parallel I
drew as well. The problem with that view however, is that a full
convergence of the System i&p would nullify either name. Eliminating
the System i&p achieves a naming as _OS-? on Hdw-!_ designation [as in
the WinTel and others], but seems to break the stated alignment with the
car manufacturer naming.? Or perhaps, that would actually result in a
more representative alignment?:
IBM (GM)
POWER based [System pi] (Chevy)
570 (Silverado)
Nbr of CPU, mem, & which OS(s) (1500, ie, 1/2 ton)
;; upgrades and customization of either, after initial sale config
