Thank you Peter, for the simple example, exactly what I needed. This worked
like a charm. I did try this command earlier without success, but I was
trying to copy into a physical file with many fields. It was the single
field file that did the trick. Thanks again... Tim

You can:

1) CRTPF FILE(QGPL/TEMPFILE) RCDLEN(1000)
2) CPYFRMSTMF FROMSTMF(&PATH)
TOMBR('/QSYS.LIB/QGPL.LIB/TEMPFILE.FILE/TEMPFILE.MBR') MBROPT(*REPLACE)

The path points into a place you choose in the IFS.

Something like that.
