Trevor,

Go ahead...retire...look for an i5/OS job...frankly, you WILL NOT find very
many in ANY of the major search engines or papers or head hunters or damn
near anything else! In short, you will probably go hungry..etc... Works
for me...

"Reality, what a concept...."

Maybe that is what we should all do. Retire from the AS/400, then reapply
for an i5/OS job. That would show our true colors, skills and adaptability!

Rebecca, enjoy your retirement. Find your passion and turn your retirement
into all your dreams. Make the cabana boy bring you plenty of drinks.

Enjoy your retirement. Don't be a stranger. Come over to CPF0000 and join
the fun.

Subject: A Fun Ride

Well, guys, it has been a fun ride. After 43 1/2 years in this business I
will be retiring effective Saturday. It seems like I have done it all, but
based on those recent Historical topics I know many of you have done more.
I did very much enjoy those timely posts. I've gone from the IBM (of
course) 7080, 1401, S/360, S/370, S/390, 4341, 4381, 4391, 3083's 3081's
to finally arriving at the AS/400. I did old DOS, VS1, MVS, etc. before
finally arriving at OS/400.

As we all know the AS/400 is the best of all systems! It's easier to
administer, very forgiving and can do anything you want - (I've even done
CICS on a 400). It really is too bad that IBM has not done more with
promoting this system and making it the ultimate IT system that it has the
capability to be.

Thanks to you all for your helpful information and responses to questions.
Also, thanks to the Domino Lotus Notes folks as I am also the Notes
administrator here. Believe it or not after 7 + years of running Notes on
the AS/400, my organization is going to switch back to Windows!

Recently I read a quote that if you like what you do, you will never work
a day in your life. That comes close for us in IT, our work is never
boring, always exciting with new things to do every day. As I said it has
been fun and I almost hate to see it end, but one should get on with other
things while you can.

Enjoy!
