Do others use PDM as an operations tool too? Is PDM dead like SEU or
will PDM stick around for a while. And under the new development tool
licensing, would PDM count as one of those "old" development tools?
This topic was discussed extensively on the WDSCi list last month. Yes,
I use PDM as an operations tool. IBM still charges a license fee for
ADTS (PDM, etc.), and IBM recently repackaged WDSC as RDi and RDi SOA
and has begun charging a license fee for them, too.
Personally, I don't see RDi and RDi SOA as replacements of ADTS any more
than I see Navigator as a replacement for native command line and menus.
In one case you're working with a thick GUI client, in the other case
you're working with green screens. Both are needed. Some people still
prefer the green-screen tools over the GUI tools, and are willing to
continue paying the license fees.
