We have a secondary link that is in standby mode just in case of

failures.

However, the client machines (which run Windows CE and emulator

software)

do not "automatically" switch over as management would like.

How's your network configured. If the second link is just redundant to
the first your remote router should handle the failover and the users
should never know the difference. Does the second link provide totally
different IPs or something?
