The tech guy at msdsc.org says it's a reverse DNS issue. I got our Network Guy in (who does not understand System i) and he determined the System i was not properly identifying itself. He determined that from the following PC session:

220 Ready
helo i5.dilgardfoods.com

I'm pretty sure that the SMTP server just uses the name that you set with CHGTCPDMN. Whatever names you type into the HOSTNAME and DMNNAME fields on the CHGTCPDMN command will be what the i5 considers itself,and therefore the name that the SMTP server sends in it's 'helo' command.
