You have my sympathies. Validation (proper) is no fun. For us at least, it's a ridiculous level of documentation. But it has to be done whenever the hardware or software is changed.

Rob is correct that vendors will see a pickup in support contract renewals in order for customers to be able to migrate to V6. Vendors will also pickup new sales to those who now need another solution to something that can't migrate (this thread).

That many shops have dropped support says more to me about the state of "i" in general (declining) than anything about a particular vendor.
