True, but there are business reasons to have them all in one place too. For example, the buyers want to know the total outstanding orders for an item including current and advance.

It dawned on me I'm sounding negative with some of my responses. I don't mean to. Most of these ideas I've thought up myself. I don't mind doing the work it takes to get where I want to go, I just don't want to miss some simple obvious solution.

I don't know of a way of adding MEMBER as a key field, and not significantly disrupting existing programs. It sounds like you have a valid reason for using multi-member files, so my initial thought would be to continue using them.
