I'm using a 7852-400 configured for async to communicate to some Kronos
timeclocks. They're about as reliable as you can get.

I believe Southern Datacomm (Protobase) offers a modem designed strictly
for credit processnig. As I recall, it has a lot of the fluff stripped
out - just bare bones for quick connect and get it done.

Looking for recommendation of industrial strength modems for rpgle async
dial apps. We have been running 2- Motorola 3260 v.34 modems for 8 years
in a credit card app supporting 40 sites. They dial 1,000 calls a day
24x7(and going to internet based app would be great but the re-cert of 3
diff custom apps for 3 non-standard cards providers is more than they
want to do right now).
Dialing at 1200 bps (provider limits).
The Motorolas are old, and harder to get new spares, so considering
change.
Considering a pair of IBM 7852-400 data/fax modems sitting on shelf left
over from discontinued fax programs. IBM 525 V5R4 w/2 - 2742 ports
Every call has to get through..
