As I recall, somebody on this very List recounted a true anecdote about it literally taking a bullet through the cable to kill Twinax.

As to my own experiences, I've got two terminals at my desk, with a third in the cage. All are on switchboxes, and two of the four lines in my office are also on tees, which can throw the impedance out-of-spec, but the only trouble we've ever had was solved by the simple expedient of putting my office on a separate line from the console.

I've also had some experience running twinax lines through Cat5, using matching transformers we acquired with a used box, but since our present building has 4 hardware Twinax lines going to my desk, I haven't needed to use the matching transformers in years.
