Do you mean that you want to extract text data from your pdf ? Or you just want to print it on the iseries ?

In first case, it depends hon hou this pdf has been produced.

If it has been rasterized (the spooled print became a tiff image and then a pdf) there is nothing else than a OCR recognition (Acrobat pro has it). There are not free tools available.

If it has the text data inside, again it depends on how it has been created (plain text, compressed, etc).

These is a free tool called pdf2text that runs in pase and can be ported to iSeries that is able to reproduce the text, including char and line spaces, page breaks, etc and in most cases the final result is exactly like the original splf (including pdf genereated by InfoPrint).

Or you can try to extract text by yourself, decompressing and positioning according to pdf coordinates.

Hello everyone,

Is there a way to convert .PDF files back to spooled *file
format

We use a number of utilities to convert from spooled format
to .PDF format
and place those in the IFS.
once in a blue moon we need to convert one of those back to
spooled *file
format.

Thanks for your answers
