Well, there is the electrical requirements...
Also, unless you are willing to pay a high hourly rate for a time and
material basis repair job, which is caveated by a "best effort" clause,
you had better have a spare older machine laying around (that you cycle
once a month or so) for parts. And "best effort" may mean anything from
can't find the part anymore to no one remembers how to determine if it's a
back plane issue or not. Also, you may run into the possibility that an
actual MF* ptf may be required. And if it's something new, and it's an
obsolete machine, you're SOL.
And, who can afford to be down for a week or so while the scramble is
going on? How popular would you be with college students to have a
machine down a week, just a week or two before finals? And, any college
can get heavily discounted hardware for educational purposes. So why
bother with the other situations?
