Actually, you may not be far off the mark. We have a company that we use
to dispose of obsolete PC's, etc. A good company will indemnify you from
all environmental or data concerns. Many will offer plans to:
First, clear off all existing data. Guaranteed secure.
- Try to find a reuse in your company
- Try to find an employee personal use
- Try to resell
- Recycle in an environmentally conscientious way.
I've heard horror stories about people selling PC's in a garage sale to
get a knock on their door from the police for illegal dumping of hazardous
waste because the buyer dumped it into a roadside ditch.
Once you've had the DNR and the EPA on your a$$ for a few years you don't
want to go through that again, trust me.
