The conflict-of-interest rules make sense, in fact I think you take it
a bit far. It is perfectly appropriate for you to accept ads for your
employer and their distribution channel and partners.  They indirectly
subsidize the site, unless you are scrupulous in not mixing
midrange.com with MKS activities.  And you indirectly endorse them by
your remaining in their employ.
