Also,

(I think) Striping by itself (aka RAID 0) is done by the OS (deep down in
the LIC).

But I don't know where the Striping done for a RAID-5/RAID-6 is done. It
would make sense for the controller to do it, and from what Sue says, that
is the case now. But I don't believe it's always been the case.
