We had an issue with a printer earlier this year that we constantly needed
to restart the writer. We were seeing messages that the printer was being
disconnected. We redefined the devd, swapped out cables, even the printer
itself. Someone responded to another question that the time-out setting on
the printer might need to be increased. This resolved that issue
(sometimes this list is helpful when you don't even realize it).
We IPL on a weekly basis as part of our full backup. After the IPL, we
have to end the job of the writer (ENDWTR shows the writer is not active,
STRPRTWTR shows the job is already active). We can then start the writer
and it works fine until the next IPL. So far I have not been able to find
anything, but am open to suggestions of what to look for and/or solutions
to this issue.
TIA
Thank you,
- Jim
