As I said before, I found out that what I need is to do a tailored install and I found an early V5R4 CD that has that as an option. But when I tried to create a tailored install, during the creation I received an error message: "Component iSeries Navigator Base Support failed to install properly with error code -1. Setup did not finish successfully." I can't seem to find a description of this error code. Anyone know?
Also, I get the indication that after you add some certain level of PTFs to V5R4, you can no longer build a tailored install as you used to from the early CD. Instead you have to build the tailored install using a tool like ORCA to create and edit a MickySoft transformer to get whatever level of install you want with whatever privileges. The problem is, ORCA is a MickySoft thing and to install and use ORCA you need to install the entire MickySoft Software Developer's Toolkit. To download and install the MS SDK you need go through a bunch of hoops to convince the MS web site you have a true MS version of Windoz installed and then you need to have the space for all the SDK. I don't want to have all that MickySoft crap on my PC taking up space with something I'll rarely use. Anyone have any ideas of a better mousetrap to will allow me to build what I wanted in the first place... a tailored install of IBMs iSeries Client Access?
Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
