Rob,

Jobs like endofday and monthend are run from corporate and close all
locations at once.

At this point, I'm not thinking about having location specific
subsystems, just jobqs.

Charles,

If all the locations are in one database what does busting it out by
location do for you? For instance if I make a single string job queue to
not conflict month end jobs how can I do that safely by location if they
are all using the same GLTRAN file if part of the monthend processing is
to do a RGZPFM?

Now, if you have other controls in place that allow you to say that there
is no logic reason to restrict the job queues to a single string then you
can start breaking it down by location for performance reasons. I wonder
if that's more management than it's worth. For example, with 150
locations would you really want 150 subsystems with their own memory
pools, etc? Even with auto adjustment that has overhead and the auto
adjuster is not very timely.

Ok,

Some more information:

~150 locations

All the same workload, running all custom code.

I suppose what I'm looking for is experiences with location specific
jobqs vs. application/program specific jobqs.

I realize that it's probably not 100% one or the other. But do you
have/have you seen mostly specific jobs queues for each location with
a few special jobqs for certain programs; or vice versa?

Thanks!
Charles

All,

Looking for others out there with experience on larger centralized
systems supporting multiple locations.

Question, how are your job queues set up?

Do you generally have one or more job queues per location?

Thanks!
