Hi Paul,

InterForm (http://www.interform400.com) is a provider of Power i Output Management Software. It is my understanding that they are adding an XML to *SCS converter so that applications, which typically retrieve data by mining *SCS spool files, will have the ability to work with XML data without needing to change their existing program logic.

I'm not sure whether this idea might be helpful to you or not.
