We also made the backups which didn't take but some minutes.

Then we completely lost the HMC to some vague corruption issue.

The IBM tech got us to the point where we could use the backup and told us that using the backup was a good idea if we had a couple of extra hours at which point we would have to start from scratch anyway.

ie: in essence....the HMC backups are useless.

I just upgraded our HMC from 7.3.2 to 7.3.4 (with MH01152) - very smoothe
and farely quick process.
I did backups before to DVD-RAM and it took more than 1 hour.
I did a backup after to DVD-RAM and it took about two minutes.
These were the full HMC backups, not just the upgrade backup.
I am all for picking up the pace, just want to make sure I am not taking
speed and ignoring a problem. The boot process of the HMC seemed much
faster as well.
Anyone else experience such a thing? Should I be concerned or any way to
test and make sure the backup worked? The dialog box did say it was doing
the integrity checking.
Thanks.
