I've never looked into it, but it stands to reason that the servlet that runs under Websphere would have access to the REMOTE_ADDR and REMOTE_USER environment variables, which are provided by the HTTP Server, and stored in the servlet's request object (IIRC).

That's just to say that I think those variables are there. I just don't know what to say about accessing them. Is the servlet source code available, and can it be modified?
